Overview

The Human Resources Benefits & Wellness Coordinator reports to the Vice President of Human Resources & Professional Development.  The Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all insurance benefits, Tax Sheltered Annuities, workers compensation, FMLA, Non-FMLA, MPLA, and Small Necessities Leave Act as well as manage the wellness program.  In addition, the Benefits & Wellness Coordinator also provides assistance in maintaining day-to-day transactional HR functions.  This is an hourly position.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Reconciles all insurance invoices and submits to Accounting Department for payment.
  • Create and train orientation classes using materials relevant to the agencies benefits for new hires.
  • Chairperson of the Wellness Works Program with continual development and coordination the program
  • Notify and set up Annual Benefit/Wellness Fair for all eligible staff with all insurance carriers, brokers and wellness representatives.
  • Responsible for notification to Agency Payroll Manager of fringe payroll deduction amounts.
  • Collect and submit employee benefit payments to accounting for staff that are out on any type of leave and are not receiving pay but have a premium share responsibility that they must submit on an established schedule.
  • Responsible for worker’s compensation claims (serving as Injury Coordinator) to include: gathering of complete information on Worker’s Comp Injury Report and reporting to the workers compensation carrier, reporting to the President/CEO directly, in addition to all department heads, Human Resources and Program Director’s that are affected by the injury. 
  • Analyze the injury, partnering with adjusters, occupational staff, and workers compensation broker.  Negotiate return to work plan, return to work instructions and communicate details to the appropriate staff.
  • Process requests for FMLA and track time used.  Notify staff when they are responsible for benefit premiums.
  • Coordinates regular and after hour’s drug/alcohol screening for employees post-accident.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of all state, federal and local laws as they pertain to the Human Resource function in order to ensure Venture’s compliance in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for computerized Personnel Records (Paylocity/Clarity, iCIMS) and maintenance of benefits information.
  • Cross-trained in all Human Resources job duties, back up for the HR and Front Office Staff

  • Provide recommendations to your supervisor regarding ways to improve the current systems
  • Observe all Agency policies and procedures
  • Accept responsibility and accountability as part of the position
  • Maintain confidentiality and positive demeanor while successfully managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

 

Physical and Mental REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintain CPR & AED Certifications
  • Requires knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources.
  • Work discreetly with highly confidential information such as salaries and employment records.
  • Organized, dependable and even temperament; good phone manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of office equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and communication skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of employees.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stoop, reach and file.

Qualifications

Minimum acceptable qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. preferred
  • Minimum of three years’ experience with employee benefits and workers compensation
  • Must be 21+ years old, have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license.
  • Previous experience in wellness preferred but not essential.
