The Residential Program Director reports to the Director of Residential Services and will be responsible for administrative, supervisory and programmatic operation of assigned residential homes supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Oversight includes the direct supervision of assigned Residential House Manager, Assistant Residential House Manager, and Nurses. This is a salary, exempt position.



  • Ability to understand and uphold state regulations in compliance with the Department of Developmental Services
  • Safeguard and ensure the health, safety, human rights and dignity of individuals receiving residential services
  • Lead and supervise assigned residential programs.
  • Act as agency liaison to third party stakeholders including but not limited to: families, Guardians, Medical Providers, DDS, DOE, Mass Health, and Social Security Administration.
  • Coordinates and participates in the referral process as assigned.
  • Facilitate transitions of individuals into residential services
  • Act as the hiring manager for the selection, hiring, evaluation, performance management of subordinates
  • Provide supervision, coaching and guidance to Residential House Manager and staff teams
  • Ensure the development, relevance and delivery of Individual Support Plans.
  • Assume the RHM role when there is a vacancy


  • Lead and supervise assigned residential programs.
  • Provide supervision, coaching and guidance to Residential House Manager. Assist Residential House Manager with the cultivation of subordinate staff, to include Assistant Residential House Manager
  • Build knowledgeable, dependable, compassionate and respectful staff teams to deliver frontline services to individuals being served. .
  • Knowledge, adherence and implementation of agency policies in the Agency Policy and Procedure Manual and Programmatic Policy Manual.
  • Oversee compliance with interdepartmental Agency deadlines (client accounts, house-budgets, end-of-month, etc.)


  • Safeguard and ensure the care, human rights and dignity of those receiving residential services through Venture Community Services are the primary goal of service delivery.
  • Ensure the development, relevance and delivery of Individual Support Plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Public Medication Administration Policies (MAP) are implemented and adhered to. (105 CMR 700.000 and 105 CMR 700.004(C) (1) (i)).
  • Ensure behavior plans, in conjunction with the Quality Improvement Department, are developed implemented and tracked where necessary and in compliance with DDS regulations.( 115 CMR 5.14 )
  • Ensure development and report progress of annual performance based objectives and outcomes.
  • Knowledge, adherence and implementation of agency policies in the Agency Policy and Procedure Manual and Programmatic Policy Manual.
  • Monitor medical, psychiatric and dental services to ensure needs are met and timely.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with standards set by DDS regulations as evaluated by the DDS survey and certification process.
  • Build relationships with individuals, families, guardians, healthcare providers and state actors on behalf of individuals being served.
  • Oversight of funds management
  • Ensure the environment is homelike.
  • Recognize and report any maintenance needs.
  • Physical site inspection for safety, cleanliness and adequate resources.



  • Plan and address formal public relation functions.
  • Prioritize attendance at staff meetings.
  • Implement the agency mission through service delivery, staff development, and resource acquisition
  • Provide recommendations to your supervisor regarding ways to improve the current systems
  • Observe all Agency policies and procedures
  • Accept responsibility and accountability as part of the position
  • Maintain confidentiality and positive demeanor while successfully managing multiple priorities simultaneously.



  • Maintain MAP, First Aid, CPR & AED Certifications
  • Requires the ability to plan and perform diversified duties requiring an extensive knowledge of a particular field, and the use of a wide range of procedures.  Involves the exercise of judgement in the analysis of facts or conditions regarding individual problems or transactions to determine what actions should be taken, within the limits of standard practice.
  • Ability to establish rapport with the disabled population, their families, co-workers and service providers.
  • Ability to travel 10 to 60 miles between residential programs on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, supervision, conciliation, teamwork, and training.
  • Organized, dependable and even temperament; good phone manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of office equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of employees.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stoop, reach and file.



  • B.A. or B.S. Degree preferred in education, psychology, rehabilitation or related field.
  • At least five years’ experience in Human Services, at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must be 21+ years old, a valid driver’s license, and daily use of a car on site and be available by telephone for daily contact.


Employee must possess the knowledge; skills and abilities listed above, and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job. Employee must be able to speak, read and write in fluent English.
