    Summary of Position:

    The Individual Supports Relief Instructor reports to the Director of Shared Living and Individual Supports.  As assigned, the Individual Supports Relief Instructor provides relief support to full time and part time Individual Support personnel when needed.  The Individual Supports Relief Instructor provides assessment and/or teaching of community living skills to developmentally disabled persons that facilitate the individual’s ability to remain in current home environment.  The Individual Supports Relief Instructor delivers training to individuals in compliance with Agency policy and procedures.  This position is will be compensated on an hourly basis and is on a seasonal basis.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct individual training in community, of community living skills as defined by program contract.
    • Report to the Director of Shared Living and Individual Supports for accountability of scheduled hours.
    • Compose contact notes outlining services/training provided for each individual served.
    • Maintain contact with Director, giving regular updates on individuals that may be in emergency situation and or receiving ongoing medical support
    • Maintain confidentiality and positive demeanor while successfully juggling priorities simultaneously.

    Marginal Duties:

    • Presence in administrative office as needed.
    • Attendance at administrative and other meetings as requested.
    • Provide recommendations to supervisor regarding ways to improve current systems.
    • Observe all Agency policies and procedures.
    • Accept responsibility and accountability as a part of the position.
    • Maintain current CPR and First Aid Certifications.
    • Other duties as assigned.




    Physical and Mental Requirements:

    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to establish professional rapport with developmentally delayed population, their families and maintain service providers.
    • Possess good time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to make and keep appointments in the community.
    • Ability to analyze tasks for step-by-step instruction.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, individuals and other service providers.
    • Ability to drive throughout the Western and Central Massachusetts area daily as required.


    Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

    • Must be 21 + years old, have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, daily use of car on site and by available by telephone of daily contact.
    • At least two years’ experience in Human Services.
